This image provides a sample of the imaging characteristics for the survey
telescopes. This is a calibration image consisting of 51 discrete pointings
at the white dwarf HZ 43 as seen by the Scanner B scanning telescope. The
upper half of the image represents the Al/Ti/C (160-235 A) bandpass and the
lower half the Lexan/B (60-175 A). Note the highly variant telescope
point-spread-function (PSF) as one moves away from the center of the detector.
This is a log-scaled image that emphasizes the faint detail in the wings of
the PSF. In all cases, the image cores are vastly brighter than the faint
(but not insignificant) wings.
